Hi,
wondering why there was no report on Gerald Batten's appearnce before the Courts on allegations of racism, incitment to racial/creed hatred and abuse under employment laws which I gather include misleading the Courts dishonestly several points came to note.

Gerard Batten was supposedly facing the Courts on 22-Dec-2011 and when nothing was reported I presumed that judgement may have been delayed as often the Judge gives himself time to write up his deliberations to subsequently deliver his verdict prior to sentence.

I gather I was wrong and the case was in fact adjourned due to the inability of the Judge to attend (probably had some last minute xmas shopping to do!). I can not as yet provide details of the date when the case will be heard but I'm sure Batten's staff will be pleased to supply the details if you ring them.

I understand Paul Diamond is defending Gerard Batten - One wonders how it can be of benefit to Britain being associated with the likes of this man and clearly it ill becomes UKIP to be funding Gerard Batten in such extremist measures!

PJ Media has posted a truly crazed comment piece by Paul Diamond. A British barrister who specialises in representing fellow fundamentalist Christians claiming to have been victims of discrimination, Diamond was a featured speaker at the Preserving Freedom Conference in Nashville last month, where he announced that the UK group Christian Concern would be linking up with the Tennessee Freedom Coalition.

It is worth reading his PJ Media article if you want an insight into the mindset of the most extreme elements within the evangelical Christian right.

Some sample quotes:
"The 'constructive accommodation' of Muslim law reached a logical conclusion with the declaration this year of Sharia law controlled zones in a number of areas geographically spread over the country, where the Islamist militants enforce their will.... A reign of terror has begun, with threats of implicit violence against anyone who 'insults' Islam, changes religion, or fails to dress appropriately."

"If the Labour Party had won the last general election in 2010, I believe they would have introduced Sharia law into the United Kingdom."

"When I was a boy growing up in London ... terms like 'Sharia' and 'jihad' were anthropological phrases analogous to witch burning, using leeches to draw blood, and cannibalism. It would have been beyond my comprehension that our political elite would seek to introduce this medieval system into one of the most advanced societies in the world."

"... the British police act in the vanguard of the Islamification of Britain by selectively terrorizing the British population to use only the 'free speech rights' of which they approve.... The Islamists can say what they want; anyone who criticizes this or shows it will be prosecuted by the police."

"Islam is becoming the established religion.... the causative reason is a liberal elite who are 'fellow travelers' with a primitive juristic system. The Labour Party and Democratic Party are sympathetic to religious practice that discriminates against women, homosexuals, and Jews – everything they purport to be against. This could be coming to a state near you sooner than you think."

One wonders when UKIP members and the electorate were informed that Gerard Batten would prctice his vile and divisive racism in their name as members of UKIP and at their expense!

Loyalty oaths in America have their roots in the Civil War era. But in the 1950s, they were an ugly product of the “Red Scare.” Some people, including university professors, were asked to sign them as testimony to their not being a communist, or a communist sympathizer.
Now comes a proposal for a different type of loyalty oath, which may help answer the question: How do we tell the difference between a peaceful Muslim and a nonpeaceful Muslim who wants to kill us? Granting that the majority of Muslims are not terrorists, is there a method by which we can do a better job of exposing those who are?
This week, the “Proposed Charter of Muslim Understanding” is being presented to the European Parliament. According to Gerard Batten, a member of the European Parliament from London, who contributed the foreword, and charter author Sam Solomon, a Shariah law expert, the charter will “enable Muslims from all strands of belief to make it plain that they reject those extremist interpretations of their religious texts that promote or excuse violence and bring Islam into conflict with the modern world.”
The Charter calls upon Muslims to:
• Respect non-Muslim religions and issue a fatwa (an Islamic religious decree) prohibiting the use of force, violence or threats to their followers.
• Respect all civilizations, cultures and traditions and promote understanding of the precedence of national laws over Shariah law.
• Respect Western freedoms, especially of belief and expression and prohibit violent reaction against people who make use of these freedoms.
• Prohibit issuance of any fatwa that would result in violence or threat against individuals or institutions.
• Request Islamic institutions to revise and issue new interpretations of Koranic verses calling for Jihad and violence against non-Muslims.
Mr. Solomon says, “We call on organizations representing the Islamic faith… to endorse and sign this Charter as an example to all European Muslims.” By doing so, they will make it clear that “Islam is a religion of peace … and that acts of terrorism committed in its name are the acts of misguided individuals who have misunderstood and misinterpreted its teaching.”
In the charter’s foreword, Mr. Batten writes, “The Western European view of religion, achieved after centuries of bloodshed, conflict and division, is that religion is a matter of private belief and conscience. Islamic fundamentalists do not share this view. … They believe in Islamic theocracy. … Such views are simply incompatible with Western liberal democracy. … The vast majority of Muslims that non-Muslims meet in everyday life are decent, respectable, law-abiding and hardworking. Western governments and societies have to offer them their support while standing firm against the extremists.” The charter is “a great step forward in this process.”
It certainly is, but what if someone signs it and doesn’t mean it? Some Muslims claim the Koran allows them to lie to “infidels.” What happens then?
What would Mr. Solomon suggest be done to those who refuse to sign the charter, as many refused to sign earlier loyalty oaths? How does one encourage compliance? Sam Solomon answers that question via e-mail: “This charter is like a passport application. If someone lies, he will be prosecuted. Once agreed upon, it would give power to the authorities to bring them to justice. Though we know they can lie, this time it would not be an individual, it would be their leaders, and would be like putting their noses in the dust, and accepting it for what it is worth, that the real cause of terrorism is the interpretation of Koranic verses by certain factions of their religion. One way or another, they have never been challenged like this ever before.”
As the European Parliament is often much slower than the U.S. Congress, the charter begins first as a discussion document. Sponsors hope it will create interest and discussion among the European public, as well as in the European Parliament. They hope one of the Parliament members, possibly Mr. Batten, will propose introducing this charter as a bill.
Mr. Batten and Mr. Solomon see this as a “no lose” proposition. If the bill passes with an enforcement mechanism, Muslim leaders who sign would be held accountable under the law for any violation. If they don’t sign, the law and public opinion may have something to say about their refusal.
Does anyone have a better strategy for sorting out the violent Muslims from the peaceful ones among us? And be sure, they are among us, as we experienced on September 11, 2001.

 This article would seem to be clarifying the beliefs of Gerard Batten and his apparent efforts to divisively incite racial hatred on the grounds of his personal superstitions and those of his racist alies relative to Islam!
